9 Healthy Halloween Treats

Posted: Thu, 27 October 2016, 09:40

It’s coming up to Halloween, and you know what that means? - Plenty of frightfully fun recipes are to be made!

I’ve collected 9 super fun and ghostly Halloween recipes from around the web to help inspire you during this spooky season.
Whether you’re planning a party or just want to add a little fun to your family or friends dinner, these recipes are guaranteed to put everyone in the Halloween spirit!

No. 1 - Eyeball Pasta

Essentially just your average pasta and tomato dish, but with the addition of creepy looking eyes staring right back-atcha!

I used vegan cheese and olives for the eyes, but you can play about with whatever you can find that works.

No. 2 - Stuffed ‘Jack-O-Lantern’ Pepper

For this I simply cut out a face into an orange pepper and stuffed it with a rice and roasted pumpkin concoction.

You can stuff it with tabbouleh, Mexican rice, pasta or even noodles so you can make it come out of the mouth and top of its head (eew!)

No. 3 - Halloween Inspired Sweet Potato

This one is really simple and pretty darn cute. If you have any cookie cutters this will be super quick, but if you’re like me and distinctly lacking in the cookie cutter department you’ll have to do it buy hand.
Cute stars, moons, bats or cats would work too.

Here’s a link to a site with great photos of the finished piece.

No. 4 – Ghost Eggs

When in doubt, simply whip out a marker pen and turn your eggs into little ghosts. Aren’t they cute?

No. 5 - Frankenstein Kiwis

Not only are they incredibly adorable, but they’re also perfect for Halloween fruit trays, fun after-school snacks, and as edible Halloween party decorations!

No. 6 - Tangerine Pumpkins

Perfect little Halloween treats for kids and adults too. They would be great on a fruit platter or laid out as edible party decorations. They’re seriously simple to make, fun to eat and you don’t get that nasty sugar high afterwards. Happy days!

Original idea - Brendid

No. 7 – Halloween Knock-Off Vegan Rolos

I can’t deny that as a child, I used to looove Rolos. Even thinking about them now makes my mouth water, yet I know they’re full of all kinds of nasties.

Thank heavens for Ohsheglows, coming to my rescue and creating these knock-off rolos – you are a wonder woman!

These would make a great healthy option to take to a party, or to nibble at home in replacement of the processed version, plus they taste so darn good!
Snazz them up with some Halloween decs and you’re good to go!

No. 8 – Arachnophobia Cookies

These cookies made me laugh so much when I saw them! The poor little face of that ginger bread man!
Not only are these great for a party or festive get together, they would make excellent hanging decorations if you put a whole through it before baking so you liven the place up (and then eat them afterwards of course!)

No. 9 - Witches Cauldron Baked Apples

Just looking at the photos of these baked apples makes me salivate and smell the festive notes of cinnamon and spice. Mmm!
They’d make a great dessert for a simple family/friends do, or even for a dinner party.
Plus they’d make your house smell amazing!
