We are an independently owned Irish family business of health food stores based in Dublin. What you'll find in Nourish is a carefully chosen selection of wholefoods, natural and organic skincare, environmentally friendly cleaning products and a wide range of the best supplements and traditional herbal remedies you can find.
As far as products go, we don't just let anything in the door. Each range we stock is carefully chosen with health and the environment in mind. If it's grossly overpackaged, we don't want it. If it's packed with three kinds of sugar, unnecessary additives or artifcial gunk - it doesn't get in the door. Ultimately it's up to each of us to decide how to live and eat to stay healthy, we just want to help you to find what's right for you to be the best you can be!
Our First Shop -'The General Health Food Store'
This year we are proud to say that we are celebrating 30 years in business! We started off back in 1986 as 'The General Health Food Store', a humble wholefoods shop on Marlborough Street, not far from the Abbey Theatre in Dublin. Back then health food stores were not nearly as common as they are now so we had a lot of people sticking their heads in the door wondering what we were up to! Derek and Yvonne Kelly were thrilled to have opened their own shop and to be bringing all the wholefoods they could find to a quickly growing customer base on the Northside of Dublin City Centre.
As the years progressed, Derek and Yvonne ventured to open stores in Nutgrove Shopping Centre in Rathfarnham and Omni Park in Santry. Another city centre store was added to the business in Liffey Street and our next move was to relocate from Marlborough Street where it all started to the GPO Arcade where we now have a thriving store and where we still welcome many of the Marlborough Street regulars!
In 2004, we changed our name from The General Health Food Store to ‘Nourish’, and opened our 5th shop on Wicklow Street. This quickly became our flagship store and today we have our head office here and operate our website from upstairs too. We opened our sixth store in Morehampton Road in Donnybrook in 2010 and though it's quite small, we pack in a lot and we are delighted to be part of the community here.
Our Wicklow St Store Today
Most recently we opened in Sandymount just last year where we are very excited to be able to offer a wide range of Certified Organic Fruit and Vegetables in addition to our usual selection of the best wholefoods, supplements and natural skincare you can find. This has quickly become our "foodiest" store and we have been absolutley bowled over by the welcome we have received from the people of Sandymount.
So you might be wondering, where did the name Nourish come from? Well, after serving Dublin for many years under our old name, in 2004 we were looking to spruce things up a bit and so we held a competition among all of our staff to rename the shops - and thus 'Nourish' was born. It was at that stage that Derek and Yvonne’s son Odhran (pictured above with Derek) joined the family business full-time and they now run the business together. We have grown from 1 small shop specialising in wholefoods to 7 stores across Dublin as well as our our online department.
As well as here online, you can now find our stores in Sandymount, Donnybrook, Liffey St, Wicklow St, Omni Park Shopping Centre, Nutgrove Shopping Centre, and the GPO arcade on Henry St, not far from our Marlborough St roots. Our staff get regular training about the benefits and properties of our products and as a result they are bursting with knowledge and always happy to help you with any health advice you need.
Our goal is (and always has been) to provide customers with everything they need to live a healthy, natural lifestyle based on an ethical approach to our planet and everyone and everything that lives on it.
Over the years, we have built up a following of wonderful customers both online and in store, whom we hold very dear to us. We would like to thank all of you for your continued support and kindness, we would never have gotten this far without you.
